My Bio
I am a teacher. I served six years on Active Duty in the U.S. Army; deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. I used to own my own trailer repair business, was a mechanic for 8 years, love Black and White Photography, cars, trucks, pinstriping, painting, polishing and working with my hands. Terrbly OCD with some things, and most of all, nobody has ever successfully nailed me down... I'm here to represent, love what everyone is doing, and hope I can contribute to the noise a little :)

In twenty-one days...life as I have known it for the past six years will grind to a finite halt.  The truck will be heavy-laden, the trailer hitched and loaded, and I will be nosing north to start a "new" life, one that starts from square one.  Several years ago, in a dirty, dusty CHU in the middle of Iraq, using dial-up level internet, I started uploading pictures to this site.  After all this time, I have uploaded several hundred pictures, many documenting the ups and downs, twists and turns that the last chapter has brought.  More importantly, I have had the privilege of meeting a sea of so many talented people and of viewing an extraordin

Turmoil

Silence… broken only by the thump of a subwoofer, the whistle of air sneaking past the worn vent-window seal, and the deep-in-her throat growl emanating from uncorked head pipes.  My ears are ringing still.   My foot still wedged in between the floor hump and the go pedal, wrist hanging limply over the wheel, eyes up and staring blindly at the white lines being consumed beneath the ridge in the hood.  It's cold outside and the clouds are thick and gray.  Heavy hearted, a well-trained finger rotates the volume knob on the stereo while, for the twenty-third timetoday, Circle of Contempt's "Perceive the Mendacity" pulses throughout the cab if on

The Return...

…and in an instant it was over…  The deafening pulse of rotor blades sweeping the air and the scream of turbine engines fell silent.  The unforgiving winds ceased.   Silence, the singular moment that signals the ending of one period before the immediate segue to the next clichéd chapter in our "Snow-Globed" lives.   Twelve months of static existence and the struggling, of fighting and trying to keep it all together.  I'd made the comment to several people at the end-of-tour in Afghanistan that, "I am so tired of shooting pictures of helicopters, rocks and soldiers in their OCP's."   There has to be more subject matter out there
